Activated by selecting "Duplicate Records" from the Options menu. Make any format option changes by selecting or unselecting the appropriate boxes. If the input format is a custom filter, then the only fields affected by these selections are those fields that have the duplicate record checking attributes set (see the Custom Filter chapter). Otherwise, without a filter as the input format, all fields will be affected by these selections.
 
Eliminate records with duplicate fields
This activates duplicate record checking. Records with duplicate data in corresponding fields will not be processed nor written to the output file.
Alert on duplicate fields
If checked and a duplicate field is found, an alert is presented. You are then given the option of keeping or discarding this record, the default is to discard.
Ignore empty fields when comparing
If checked, empty fields are not used when comparing field data (otherwise empty fields are considered equal).
Case sensitive
If checked, upper and lower case matter when comparing field data.
Write eliminated records to a separate file
If checked, a separate file is created and the duplicate records, if any, are written to this file. If the "Text Conversion" options is activated, records written to the duplicate record file are not text converted.
